Good Morning 08/22/2024

My only true place to vent I realized recently that this is the only true place that I can rant without feeling like everyone is ignoring me. I don’t know if anyone reads these posts and that’s totally fine. The problem is that the communities I’m a part of seem to not appreciate the content nor insight into my personal projects I post in those places. Everything- from bad days to good days, it feels like no one is acknowledging both of those from me.…

Good Afternoon 07/14/2024

Beyond yesterday So I’ve been very busy lately. You can probably see that with the lack of posts. I will try to run down through those couple of months the best I can with some notable events and broad summarization of what’s happened. First off, I finally found a job! I don’t know how much I talked about this situation, but I moved to Portland without any job lined up. This was a huge gamble since I estimated that I would only be able to live on my savings for about three months.…

The unburdening of my past

Taking the weight off I finally realized just how important the last few months have been since moving to the Pacific-Northwest. During those few months I’ve been taking some mental weight off my shoulders, loosening up a bit in norms. I’m no longer bound by the past self having set rigid standards and interactions. I’m more confident in showing a bit more of me in public and diving into new things.…

Good Afternoon 05/02/2024

Yesterday Yesterday I didn’t do much because of my awful sleep from the previous night. Mostly stayed home to work on some projects and get a bit of archaeology training done. I attended another archaeology training call about describing soils and sediments for digs (shovel probes mostly). I learned a lot about describing soils and sediments, difference between the two, and a lot of new terminology. I also learned about the archaeological sensitivity of the region’s landforms (ie.…

Yesterday Yesterday was also a bit of a light day. It was raining and I didn’t feel too well, but I managed to get some climbing in for that day. I reached V3s again and finally sent my first one. Tried a few more and then went home before traffic became bad on the highways (as when it does after 15:00). Beyond that not much else, just organizing paperwork and researching project items (archaeology, graduate school, software development things).…

Yesterday Yesterday I didn’t really do much - it rained most of the day and I had to get bloodwork done, so not extrenouis activities. I did manage to make a gluten-free spaghetti with mild Italian sausage. and a side of cheesy garlic bread for dinner. I mostly worked on my projects, graduate school admissions essays, and read up more on archaeology principles. Plan for the day I’m likely going to go climbing today since Queer Climb Night is Thursday.…

Good Morning 04/29/2024

Yesterday I took a good long hike in the morning/early afternoon yesterday. I was lucky and managed to go for a hike in the period of time between downpours. This time I planned for 3 miles but ended up going an extra bit of distance. I didn’t have anything better to do for that day, so I skipped one trailhead and kept going until the next one. Total I hiked 3.…

Good Morning 04/28/2024

Yesterday Yesterday wasn’t that eventful. Like I said the beer really hit me in terms of mental standing. It was a mostly indoors day. The rain also swept through the area for a bit at moments so no hike either. I wrote a few upcoming posts, worked a bit more on graduate school paperwork, and watched a bit more of SG1. I also went out to grab some barbeque from a local place I’d been meaning to try out.…

Would you still?

If you knew your timeline needs to go through certain actions or events, would you try to diverge from the timeline? Would you try to change things knowing you’ll end up there anyways? Even if that means figurative destruction and hurting those around you? We do this every day, all the time. It’s part of pursuing our personal life goals.…

Climbing Went out for some climbing yesterday afternoon, and suffice to say I felt like I was maxing out on V2s. I couldn’t get a good enough grip in some of them or something. Oh well, something felt off that day anyway. I did go for a particularly easy V3, still couldn’t get it, but it’s on my radar as long as they don’t do a reset. I saw someone send it right before I left, so I have some beta on what to do.…
