Yesterday

Yesterday I didn’t do much because of my awful sleep from the previous night.

Mostly stayed home to work on some projects and get a bit of archaeology training done. I attended another archaeology training call about describing soils and sediments for digs (shovel probes mostly). I learned a lot about describing soils and sediments, difference between the two, and a lot of new terminology. I also learned about the archaeological sensitivity of the region’s landforms (ie. where to expect cultural objects and how deep of a shovel probe may be needed). I then went on to research more about recording data via single context recording and a Harris matrix. Still trying to wrap my head around those concepts but I’m getting a good feel for it.

During that whole deep dive, I had to help unlock a friend’s office door because she locked herself out. Luckily I’d mostly been reading and sober so I popped on down to help her out. I was able to have a bit of a fun adventure with friends while we played spy and got her into her place again. I just enjoy helping and hanging out with friends so that was honestly a fun reading break!

Morning

So yeah- I got back late yesterday and poured myself a glass of whiskey. That helped push me to bed, but unfortunately it ruined my sleep rhythm so I woke up late and not well-rested. That’s why this post was written in the afternoon! Probably learned my lesson and likely won’t have a drink for a long time.

I did have a dream about archaeology. I was mostly excavating a site with a trowel and kinda just doing a thing. Nothing spectacular, but also was just so weird seeing myself do that heh.

Plan for the day

I don’t have much planned today. I mistakenly thought Queer Climb Night was this week, but it’s actually scheduled for next week. So that’s a bummer I planned around it. I’ll definitely go climbing Friday and Sunday again to get my routine to stick.

I also want to apply for more agile coaching jobs and probably other jobs relating to analysis. Those seem like the best path forward for now and I’m not against relocating if they pay me significant amounts (upwards of $100K and it’s the only offer). I have tons of technology and leadership experience to utilize so that’s a leg up in that segment of the market. We’ll see. I did apply for a couple of them in Sweden because why the heck now? Go big or go home?

With trowel (again) and empty whiskey glass,
Kathryn
